Exploring On Various Causes Of Cerebral Palsy
Today, there are more and more children who are born with cerebral palsy. As parents, you may want to know what causes this disorder to happen to a newborn child and thus affecting his or her motor skills and as well as speech. With this, here are the
causes of cerebral palsy.

- Damage that has happened on the brain is the perhaps one of the primary causes of cerebral palsy. Once the parts of the brain like the cerebrum and cerebellum is damaged, then the child is going to have this disorder. And aside from these parts, damages on the connecting nerves may also cause this disorder. Whatever the extent of the damage is, the child is surely going to develop have cerebral palsy. Some damages may be lesions on the brain and thus allowing the intrusion of either cerebrospinal fluid or even blood. Once fluid intruded the brain and puts pressure on the its area that is responsible for motor, then it will lead to cerebral palsy.
- Infections can also be one of the causes of cerebral palsy. The most common brain infection is meningitis. Aside from this, even amniotic fluid that has burst may also cause infection. Once the baby has been exposed to these infection then the child is going to likely develop cerebral palsy.
- One of perhaps the most common causes of cerebral palsy is pregnancy. Mothers who have medical problems during pregnancy may also affect the development of the baby and thus make them have cerebral palsy. Examples of these medical problems are hyperthyroidism, hypertension, seizures, and high levels of blood sugar. Placenta previa or the condition wherein the placenta may cause bleeding can also cause cerebral palsy to the baby.

- Delivery is also among the causes of cerebral palsy. High risk deliveries like baby being born prematurely may also cause cerebral palsy. This is for the reason that the babies were not given time to fully develop. They also have hard time breathing since their fetal heart rates are lower than the full-term babies. Lack of oxygen on the brain even for a short period of time will also cause cerebral palsy to the baby. Another instance where babies are not getting enough oxygen is when there are born in a breech position. This is because either their feet are being born first or their source of oxygen is going to be very limited inside the womb during birth.
These are only some of the causes of cerebral palsy among babies. The good thing about these causes of cerebral palsy is that they can be controlled with regular checkup. So keep in mind that it is very important to have
regular checkups every pregnancy in order to make sure that you and your baby is safe from these medical problems to avoid this disorder.
